Volitia "Litty" Elliott, 82, a resident of Higley Hill Road in West Marlboro, passed away Monday January 15, 2018 at Thompson House Nursing Home in Brattleboro. Volitia was born in Marlboro, VT on September 28, 1935 the daughter of the late Harold and Alice (Snow) Whitney. She attended local schools, graduating from Wilmington High School as class Valedictorian in 1953. Volitia worked as a bookkeeper in her husbands business for many years. She was the former Marlboro Town Treasurer and School Director. Litty and Bob were couples in the Green MT. Squares Dancing Club for years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and traveling especially to the beach and the ocean. With her husband Bob they traveled to Alaska for their 50th wedding anniversary. She enjoyed listening to the sounds of the Irish Tenor David O'Donnell and cherished times spent with her family. She is survived by her husband Bob Elliott of West Marlboro whom she married at the Marlboro Meeting House June 28, 1953, children Robert Elliott and his wife MaryAnn of Orlando, FL David Elliott and his friend Lisa of Marlboro,and Melinda Coombs and her husband Bill of Jacksonville, VT her sister Margaret Crafts of Springfield, MA, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Katherine Dix who died in 2012 and her brother Harold Whitney, Jr. who died in 2017. Graveside funeral services will be announced later in the spring. Visiting hours will be held Friday January 19, 2018 at Covey-Allen & Shea Funeral Home 44 East Main Street Wilmington, VT from 5-7pm. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Volitia's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, c/o Covey-Allen & Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 215 Wilmington, VT 05363. Graveside funeral services will be announced later in the spring. Visiting hours will be held Friday January 19, 2018 at Covey-Allen & Shea Funeral Home 44 East Main Street Wilmington, VT from 5-7pm.
