Violet G Rafus

Violet G. Rafus, 98, longtime resident of Wilmington, VT passed away on January 3, 2026.

Violet was born on May 28, 1927 to the late Erwin and Goldie (Powers) Green in Whitingham, VT. She was one of four children. Violet received her education at Whitingham High School and graduated in 1945. Following graduation, she was employed at the New England Box Company and later at the Grand Union until she retired after 42 years in 1995.

Violet would marry her husband, Ray Rafus, on October 17, 1947 in Wilmington. They were married for 42 years until his passing in 1989.

In her spare time Violet enjoyed playing Bingo, and was an avid bowler in the Senior League. She loved to take walks, and was also a member of the Wilmington Historical Society.

Violet is survived by her sister, Beverley Kimberley of Colrain, MA. Her very good and longtime friend, Jane Raymo. As well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends – all of which will sorely miss her presence.

Violet was predeceased by her husband, Ray Rafus. Her parents, Erwin and Goldie Green. A sister, Beatrice Dunn, and a brother, Cecil Green.

Friends and relatives are invited for a time of visitation from 1:00 – 3:00PM on January 23, 2026 at Covey, Allen & Shea Funeral Home located on 44 E Main Street, Wilmington, VT 05363. A memorial service will follow after visitation.

The burial will be private, and scheduled later in the Spring of 2026 at the convenience of the family.
