Ron Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather (great), and friend, passed away unexpectedly on October 28th after a brief illness.
Ron was a devoted family man, He was committed to his wife Emily of 58 years, where they made their home in South Londonderry. He was known for his hard work which started at Bromley Mountain as a snowcat operator. He had a passion for working next to his father in the family business, which he and Emily later took over and developed. They grew their business which offered logging, excavating, and caretaking. Up till his passing, Ron was still working, doing property maintenance and caretaking. The family business was one to be proud of, including generations of Underwood men throughout the decades. Both Ron's son, Ron Jr. (Rerun) and his grandson, Ron III, worked side by side with him daily. He played a major role in their lives, and he was very proud to have them by his side.
Ron served for years with Champion Fire Department as a member, where he later became Assistant Chief. He dedicated many hours to his department and community during this time. Ron also enjoyed his time with the Chester Men's Softball League where he and Emily sponsored a team of guys that they held relationships with for many years to follow. They would be down there many evenings and weekends coaching, enjoying the players, and helping with groundskeeping as needed. Lake St. Catherine was a place of rest for Ron and Emily. They rented each and every year, gathering family and friends for cookouts, drinks and laughs. If you never had a "Papa drink" you didn't know what you were missing.
With all these roles, the one he enjoyed most was family. He especially loved and adored the littles, known for picking on them and being silly. Even in his grand size, he would play like a kid himself. He was a gentle giant with enormous bear hugs and an infectious smile. His humor was always present and continued even while recently ill. Ron brought stature to each and every place he was. His large presence will be greatly missed, but he will forever hold a big place in our hearts.
Ron Sr. is survived by his wife Emily, son Ron Jr. (Jodie), stepdaughter Lynn Moffitt-Coolidge (Howard), grandchildren Jennifer Ciccone (Jerry), Kristen Poljacik (Marc), Abigail Blish (Josh), Holly Peloquin, and Cole Landon. Ron also leaves great grandchildren, Mia, Natalie, and Ella. Siblings of Ron's include, Clyde (Glenice), Eleanor, Greg (Jeanette), and sister in law Carolyn, along with many nieces and nephews. We know that loved ones who have passed before him; his parents, siblings Irma, "Bud", and Stewart, grandson Ron III, and son in law Dwight Moffitt, are welcoming him warmly.
