Robert C. "Peanut" Lake Jr. 73 passed away peacefully Monday March 16, 2015 at the Vermont Veterans Home. The son of Robert C. and Eva Mae (McDonald) Lake, he was born in Bellows Falls on January 12, 1942.Peanut was a Korean War Naval veteran and had served aboard the USS Enterprise and had been active in covert affairs. He had worked at the former Morse Block Company for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking pictures of nature, playing his guitar and singing. Also watching cartoons, reading , spending time with family and friends and in later years studying the Bible.He married the former Susan Sedgwick in White Creek on May 23, 1998 , Susan now resides in Arlington. He also leaves his sons Clayton Lake of Addison, Maine, Robert Bradford of Pownal and Timothy Harrington of Bennington, daughters Robin Kerr of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Amber Lee of Uncasville, Connecticut, Cheyenne Lake of Uncasville and Crystie Harrington of Bennington, a brother Myron Lake of Bennington, a sister Rosina Baker of Cincinnati, Ohio, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife Delores Lake, daughter Debra Cox and siblings Charles lake, Veronica Lake and Elizabeth Squires. Funeral services with Naval Military Honors will be held on Thursday March 19 at 11am at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home . "As I leave this world a sober man, I ask all of you who come to bid me a goodbye do so sober and clean."I ask that instead of flowers you donate to the Vermont Veterans Home in care of the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home , 213 West Main Street, Bennington, Vt.
