Patricia C. Morris

Patricia Marie (Crawford) Morris, 92, a cherished resident of Wilmington, Vermont, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 8, 1934, in Wilmington, VT, to Andrew and Kathleen Crawford, Patricia grew up in the town she would forever call home. After graduating from Wilmington High School in 1952, she answered a call to service, proudly joining the United States Women’s Army Corps (WAC). It was during her time in the Army, while stationed at Fort Jay, NY, that she met her future husband, Peter Morris. Their enduring love story spanned 67 years of marriage.
Following her military service, Patricia utilized the GI Bill to earn her teaching degree, embarking on a fulfilling career dedicated to education and nurturing young minds. Her and Peter's journey together led them to various communities, including Springfield, Massachusetts; Nashua, New Hampshire; Crete, Illinois; and Yardley, Pennsylvania. Upon Peter's retirement in 2002, they returned to Wilmington, finding solace and familiarity in the community that had shaped her early years.
Even in retirement, Patricia remained active and deeply engaged, notably as a proud member of the Historical Society of Wilmington. She cherished the town’s rich history, taking great joy in helping preserve its stories for future generations. Patricia also found immense pleasure in traveling to visit her grandchildren, no matter where they resided. Her other passions included candlepin bowling and spending time at the flea market, where she delighted in catching up with old friends.
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter, in 2021. She leaves behind a profound legacy of love, strength, and warmth, which lives on through her four children: her sons Peter Jr. and his wife Cheri of Wilmington, VT; Clifford and his wife Connie of Millsboro, DE; Matthew and his wife Cheryl of Natalia, TX; and her daughter Sarah and her husband Bryan Tash of Sumter, SC. She is also survived by seven cherished grandchildren and seven adored great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy.
Those fortunate enough to have known Patricia will remember her as a wonderful mother, devoted wife, and steadfast friend. Her gentle nature, quiet resilience, and unwavering support for her family will be profoundly missed. Yet, her spirit will undoubtedly live on in the countless lives she touched and the cherished memories she leaves behind.
The family of Patricia Morris extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate home hospice staff for their exceptional care. Sincere thanks are also extended to the Covey, Allen and Shea Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held on August 8, 2026, 11:00 am, at the Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington.
