Joseph F. Mchale

June 15, 1942 — July 31, 2021

Joseph F. McHale, “Buddy”, 79, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter, Jeanie in Arlington Vermont on Saturday July 31, 2021 after a 3 ½ year battle with cancer. Buddy was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 12, 1942. He was the son of Thomas McHale (“Pop pop”) and Loretta (Kearney) McHale (deceased), brother of Tom in North Carolina and Jack (deceased). He lived the first half of his life in New York and the second half in South Florida. With his health declining he relocated to his daughter’s home in Vermont where he raved about the home cooked meals and happy hours. Bud was a successful securities trader, trading till his last days. He was also a passionate and skilled golfer, which brought him to some of the most beautiful places in the world, including his home courses. He was a very social person who enjoyed a proper cocktail (to the top!), and a great meal with great company, especially that of Penny and his amazing friends, who he cherished. Predeceased by his wife Patricia (O’Connor) McHale, Buddy leaves his son Joseph F. McHale Jr. and his wife Lauren of Washington D.C., daughters Jeanie McHale and her husband John Spencer of Arlington, VT, Patricia McHale of New York, NY, Elizabeth Kuenzel and her husband Mark, Springfield, MA and Eileen McHale of Yonkers, NY, five grandchildren (Trey, Connor, Ryan, Andrew, Lily) and one great grandchild (Vida). At Buddy’s request there will be no formal services, but his family encourages you to raise a glass (or several) to a life well lived. If you would like to make a memorial gift in his memory please donate to OIF.org, the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (brittle bones disease).
