Joan Fullerton Germain, 85, a former resident of Bennington, and prior to that, Arlington, VT and Rumson, NJ, died peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2017 at her assisted living residence in Shrewsbury, NJ, where she had relocated to be near her family. The daughter of George and Helen (Ford) Fullerton, she was born in Minneapolis, MN on September 28, 1931, was a graduate of Smith College (1952) in Northampton, MA and had a long career in the field of special education. Joan was a past communicant of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Rumson, NJ and, most recently, a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Hoosick Falls, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerry G. Germain, in 2000. She leaves her daughter, Anne Germain Kerr and husband Rod of Little Silver, NJ, sons Gary Germain and wife Susan of Rumson, NJ, Mark Germain and wife Jennifer of West Newbury, MA, John Germain and wife Deirdre of Southport, CT and Christopher Germain and fiance Laura of San Francisco, CA, and nine grandchildren. She was also a past member of Seabright Beach Club, Sea Bright, NJ, had a keen interest in tennis and bridge and was a profoundly positive influence in the lives of her children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 22 at 12 Noon at the Cornerstone Fellowship Church, Hoosick Falls, NY. A private burial service will follow at the White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington, VT. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in her name may be made to the Cornerstone Fellowship in care of the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 22 at 12 Noon at the Cornerstone Fellowship Church, Hoosick Falls, NY. A private burial service will follow at the White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington, VT.
