Jerilyn A. Witt (nee MacConnach), 80, of Arlington, VT passed away on October 29, 2025, surrounded by family after a period of failing health. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Stephen Witt, Sr. and by her parents; Helen (Breen) and Alfred MacConnach, and by her brother, Jeffrey.
Jeri was born on January 6, 1945, in Oceanside, NY and moved to Peru, VT in 1955 where she assisted her parents at their business operation, the Bromley Sugar House. She enjoyed skiing and, in her early teens, was a ski instructor at Bromley Mountain. Jeri graduated from Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester, VT and later attended Ithaca College.
Jeri married her husband, Stephen, in 1963, and together, they raised four kids in their Arlington, VT home. She was a devoted mother to Stephen Jr (wife Michelle), Chris (wife Melissa), Sheri (Stannard, husband Jim) and Scott (wife Chelsea), and later a cherished grandmother to Stephanie, Jimmy, Collin, Patrick, Makayla, Blakely, and Penelope.
During the time she was raising her family, she was active in the community, coaching varsity cheerleading and field hockey teams at Arlington Memorial High School and also serving as a member of the School Board in the town.
When her children were older, Jeri began a banking career at Factory Point National Bank, and worked in several different roles for over 25 years before retiring in 2007. Much of her time in banking was as the Branch Manager in the Arlington office, and she had fond memories of her coworkers and customers from that time in her life.
Later in life, she became an avid golfer, and spent many days playing the nine hole course in her town (“A-9” as we called it), and could frequently be seen playing on cold winter days. She also served as a board member for the Arlington Golf Association.
Most notably, however, Jeri was a kind, thoughtful, strong, and fiercely independent daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed terribly by those who knew her.
Funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday November 15 at St. James Episcopal Church in Arlington, VT. A reception at the Arlington Community House will follow. There will be a private burial at the Factory Point Cemetery in Manchester, VT
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jeri’s memory to the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care (https://www.dartmouth-hitchcock.org/jack-byrne-center), or to The Arlington Golf Association (Arlington Golf Association Donor PO Box 268, Arlington, VT 05250).
