James N. Moon, 86, a resident of School Street, passed away August 30, 2021 at Albany Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Bennington. Jim was born May 19, 1935, the son of the late Jesse M. and Catherine Davis Wellspeak. He attended Bennington schools and earned his Associate Degree from St. Joseph’s Business College. Jim served his country as a member of the United States Navy and upon honorable discharge Jim worked as a bookkeeper for area auto dealerships and Bennington College for many years. Jim was a life member of VFW Post 13 in Bennington and enjoyed listening to country music, playing guitar and singing with his brother. Jim is survived by his children James Landine, Kenneth Landine, Robert Landine all of Massachusetts, David Banulis of Pownal, VT and Jonathan Lyons of San Rafel, CA, his sisters Jean Jones of Bennington and Sherry Robinson (Joe) of Arlington, VT, brother Gerald Moon (Patricia) of Bennington and sister-in-law Karen Wellspeak also of Bennington and , VT, . He was preceded in death by his wife Lois Harrington Moon, significant other Jean Smith, sons Jan and William Landine, his brothers Jesse Moon and David Wellspeak and his sister Joan Peacock. Funeral services for Jim will be held Friday September 10, 2021 at 11am at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT. Interment with military honors will follow in White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington.
