Dorothea Whitley

Dorothea L Whitley, 98, passed away on May 2, 2025 at Franklin County Rehabilitation Center in St Albans, VT.

Dottie was born on July 4, 1926 in Elizabeth NJ and lived in Linden NJ until she moved to Arlington VT in 1974. She married her husband Robert on October 26, 1946. She managed the Arlington Schools lunch program and Senior Meals in Arlington until her retirement. She was an antique dealer at East Arlington Antiques. She was a member of St James Episcopal Church in Arlington and St Luke’s Episcopal Church in St Albans and sang in the choir at various Episcopal Churches for 70 years.

Dot was predeceased by her husband Robert Whitley in January 1995 and her daughter Jo-Ann Fonseca in January 2007. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Marilyn and Ronald King of St Albans and her daughter and son-in-law Eileen and James Rice of Shaftsbury, her brother William Humcke and wife Ann of Coral Springs FL, her grandchildren Craig Fonseca (Lisa) of Delran, NJ, Michael Fonseca (Gena) of Red Bank, NJ, Jennifer Peet (Noel) of Cape Coral, FL, Patrick King (Tara) of Georgia, VT, Erica Leighton (Cole) of Topsham, ME and David Rice (Heather) of Bennington, VT, 8 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at St James Episcopal Church, Arlington VT on May 13, 2025 at 10 am.
