Dora Maiorana

Dora Maiorana of Arlington, VT (formerly of Bloomfield, NJ) passed away February 14, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Dora was born and raised in Cassano Irpino, P. Avellino, Campania, Italy before immigrating to the United States in 1961. She was a tailor first for the Annie Flag Co., Verona, NJ then Ben Price Furs, West Orange, NJ. After retirement, she assisted her sister in Nina’s Custom Couture, a successful and upscale fashion design store in Bloomfield, NJ.

In December 2024, Dora moved to Arlington, VT to live with her niece and grand nephew on their farm. There she enjoyed the beauty and relaxation of the Green Mountains. Dora forged wonderful friendships in her new home State.

She was feisty and funny, loving and kind.

In April 2025, at the age of 92, she broke her hip. With grit and weekly physical therapy she was determined to dance with her grand nephew, Michael, at his wedding in November and she did.

Dora is survived by her loving niece and two nephews, Anna Luongo Giglio, Phillip G. Maiorana and Anthony J. Luongo (Linda), also a grand niece Nicole A. Berchtold, and three grand nephews Phillip Maiorana, John Maiorana, Michael A. Giglio, Jr. and 3 great grand nieces and 4 great grand nephews. Also her kind Vermont friends, Margaret, Pat, Linda, Lois, Jan and Don.

She was predeceased by her parents Salvatore and Erminia Maiorana, her brother John B. Maiorana, her sisters Esther Del Vescovo, Eleonora Luongo, Mafalda and Nina Maiorana, two brother-in-laws, John Luongo and Orlando Del Vescovo and two nephews Orlando DelVescovo, Jr. and Salvatore Maiorana

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, February 28 at 9:30 at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St., Montclair, NJ with a Funeral Mass offered at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 94 Pine St., Montclair. Entombment will be at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover, NJ. Visiting hours are on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
