Diana L. Wilson 87, a resident of Manchester died peacefully surrounded by her special friends at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Louise H. Keene and David Takacs. Diana attended schools in Manchester, VT graduating in 1956, from Burr & Burton Seminary. After graduation she attended Sargent College in Boston, Massachusetts, earning her physical education degree in 1960. Upon graduation she accepted a position at South Orange Middle School in South Orange, NJ where she taught for 33 years. She would travel back to Vermont every weekend, school vacation and summer to spend time with her beloved family on Nichols Hill in Dorset, VT at the Nichols Farm. Upon her retirement in 1993, Diana moved home to Manchester. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four wheeling but most of all spending time with her beloved family and friends. As her family aged, she became their caretaker, moving them into her home. Diana had a huge heart, and should be remembered for all the love she gave. In her later years, she shared her wealth of knowledge and gardening, cooking and canning with her special friend and caregiver Sadie Sargent, whom worked for Diana and helped take care of Diana’s whole family for last 22 years. Diana was pre deceased by both her parents, stepfather George Keene, beloved aunt and uncle Junior (John) and Ethel Nichols, Gertrude Haldiman, Frank Haldiman, special friend Don B. Otis and beloved cat Chloe. We would like to thank the amazing women who showed Diana love and compassion over these last few years, Sarah Morse, Mellisa King, Brooke Jurnak and Shelly Sheldon. Staying home would not have been possible without you. Diana’s service will be held Saturday 26,2025 at 11am at The United Church of Dorset and East Rupert. Immediately following the service will be a reception in the church basement. Burial will follow at Dellwood Cemetery.
