Christopher Anthony Teder

May 9, 1952 — October 8, 2025

Bennington

Chris Teder, aged 73, of Bennington, VT died on October 8, 2025.

He was born in Bennington Vermont, where he grew up. He was employed by Southern Vermont College in Bennington, as a bus driver and in maintenance. He also worked at Bennington Automart.

Chris was preceded in death by his mother Ann Marie Lukken and by his brother Thomas Lukken.

Chris was very creative and always smiling. He enjoyed poems, in both English and French, and had a love for games of any kind, but especially poker. He loved the classics like Texas Holdem and 5 Card Draw but sometimes would make new spinoffs and rules as he played which spoke to his creative personality. He always offered to allow others to play in his games, regardless of skill. He was kind, loving and enjoyed connecting with people and always wanted to be inclusive.

Chris remained adventurous his whole life, embodied by his love for being in nature, specifically hiking and fly fishing. He was also a passionate collector of stamps and antiques.

A favorite poem of Chris’s offers testimony to his love of connecting with people:

“Treat a man as he is, and you will make him worse. Treat a man as he could be, and you might make him better.” (Goethe)

Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.
