Charles Timothy O'Leary, 87, a long time resident of Dorset passed away August 19, 2017 at Equinox Terrace. Charlie was born in Rockingham, VT on March 23, 1930, the son of the late William Leary, Sr. and Rose Tinney. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for twenty-eight years and also worked in various traditional Vermont industries such as dairy farming, logging, maple sugaring and at Edgerton's Sawmill. He was a member of the Dorset Fire Department for eighteen years and enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. Charlie is survived by brothers William Leary Jr. of Milbrae, CA and Bobby Leary of Ludlow, VT, his private chef and sister-in-law Millie O'Leary, step daughter Cheryl Harriman (Chuck), step granddaughter Kimberlee Poezobut (Jeff) and two step great- granddaughters Jessica and Rachel as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Rose Stoodley, Ruby Mattison and Margaret Brooks; brothers Francis O'Leary, John Leary and Richard Leary and his first wife Geneva Bovey O'Leary and second wife Maisie Wyman O'Leary. Special thanks to his niece Linda O'Leary who took him on outings and was by his side to the end. Many thanks to the staff at Equinox Terrace who loved and cared for him. Funeral services for Charlie will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10am at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. The family has entrusted arrangements to the care of Brewster-Shea Funeral Home 34 Park Place Manchester center, VT. SERVICES: Funeral services for Charlie will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10am at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
