Charles "Skip" Dix, a resident of Whitingham, passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2026. Skip was born in Bennington, Vermont on October 29, 1954, the son of the late Laura (Ellis) Dix and Howard C Dix. Skip grew up in Wilmington and worked as a master electrician for many years in Massachusetts and Vermont and owned Purple Electric Company in Greenfield, Massachusetts. He eventually worked as a cable technician for Duncan Cable TV in Wilmington, VT until his retirement. In his earlier years, he made many memories with his three siblings. Skip enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, snowmobiling and hiking at his family's camp and his home. He also enjoyed his daily phone calls with his best friend, Dave Warburton. His family has many memories of car rides to various places with him, listening to oldies music. He seemed to enjoy keeping busy with his decades long battle with beavers to preserve the home and property that he loved. Skip's older brother, Randy, would often assist in his endeavors and they spent many evenings together on the property. In his later years, he enjoyed fishing and watching documentaries with his grandchildren, hanging out with their pets, Joe & Charlie, looking through magazines of vintage cars, and watching TV. Most of all, Skip loved sharing his memories and knowledge with his grandchildren who all lovingly referred to him as their "Bompa". His grandchildren share many memories of sneaking and eating his donuts that he would pack in his lunch every day for work. He cherished time with his family. He was very excited to attend his grandson, Connor's, high school graduation in the coming days. Skip is survived by his wife of 40 years, Terry Brown Dix, daughters April Pieger (Arthur) Melanie Howe (Darby) and Sarah Sprague (Rodney), a sister, Lorraine Saunders, and grandchildren Madison Howe (Jacob), Hailey Howe (Ricky), Katalina Pieger (Benjamin) , Beneteau Von Reisser, Connor Sprague, Caden Sprague, Collin Sprague and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Randall Dixon and sister Candi Dix. There will be no formal services. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Deerfield Valley Rescue.
