"Bob" Reynolds, a lifelong resident of Bennington, VT, passed away peacefully October 26, 2018 at his home in Searsburg, VT. Born in Pepperell, MA, October 8, 1925, the son of Wilfred J. Reynolds and Emma S. Derosier, he received his education in Bennington schools and the U.S. Navy. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy and the Vermont Army National Guard. His most significant naval duty was on the USS Diablo SS 479, as a submariner and on the USS Jack W. Wilke destroyer escort, as a gyro compass navigator. After discharge from active naval duty, he returned to Bennington and began his civilian career as a master electrician, working for Sprague Electric Company, Ben Mont Paper Company, Globe Battery and finally for his own company. His beloved wife of sixty-three years, June Stratton Reynolds, was his company's bookkeeper. He also taught fourth year electrical studies for the state of Vermont. A member of the First Methodist Church, he spent eighteen years as the church's troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America. Bob enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, woodworking, and fishing. He was a member of many organizations-The American Legion Post 13, the VFW Post 1332, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, the Moose Lodge, the Disabled American Veterans as a service officer, and the Masonic Mount Anthony Lodge No.1313, including the thirty second degree of the Scottish Rite and the charitable activities of the Cairo, Shriners International. He will be missed by his family, friends, and the community. He was predeceased by his wife, June and six brothers and sisters. He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Bibens of Springfield, VT, a daughter, Jacqueline Towne of Guilderland, NY, and a son, Robert James Reynolds, Jr., of Bennington. He leaves three grand-children- Brandy J. Reynolds of Manchester, VT, James T. Towne, III (Robin), of Gloucester, MA, and Calum J. Reynolds (Lynn) of Benbrook, TX, and eleven great grand-children- Arianna, Pheobe, Sierra, Matthew, Maeve, Jackson, Nathaniel, James, Mason, Logan and Austin as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Notice: Calling hours are Thursday, November 1 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT. Services will take place Friday, November 2 at 1:00 pm at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home with burial immediately after the services at the White Chapel on the Chapel Road. In leiu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans c/o Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Homes. Calling hours are Thursday, November 1 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT. Services will take place Friday, November 2 at 1:00 pm at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home with burial immediately after the services at the White Chapel on the Chapel Road.
