Bernie passed on April 17th 2026. He was born in Bennington Vermont on September 16th 1970 to his beloved parents Mary and Bernard Rougeau. He is remembered by his brother Mathew McConnell (Marilyn), sisters Becky Morin (Jim) and Tammy Martin (Steve) and daughter Kayleigh Rougeau and granddaughters Nakita and Zora Montanye. He grew up in pownal riding horses and working on anything he thought he could fix. He was an avid outdoorsman Bernie found joy in hiking, four wheeler rides, the beautiful outdoors, thrifting with his mom and sisters. Cooking was his passion. He was hardworking he worked as a head chef for the Steakhouse for many years under the Pinsonneaults and Kaman Composites for years after. At the time of his passing he worked at Southern Vermont Arts Center. He was a loving father to his only daughter Kayleigh Rougeau. A proud grandfather of two granddaughters Nakita and Zora Montanye. Bernie’s adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Graveside services for Bernie will be held Wednesday April 29, 2026 at 1pm in Oakhill Cemetery in Pownal.
