A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday February 24 at 1:00 PM at the Old Red Mill in Wilmington.

Ken Fisher of Marlboro, VT passed away suddenly while hiking out from his cherished remote cabin in Stratton, late Friday afternoon.He was born in Ridgewood, NJ, attended Northfield Mount Hermon School ’54, then spent 2 years in the Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War.He graduated from Middlebury College ’60 and then Brooklyn Law School ’64. After graduating from law school he and his wife Virginia Reed Fisher settled in Marlboro.He practiced law for 46 years. He received a lifetime achievement recognition from the Green Mountain National Forest for his career long efforts in adding lands to the Green Mountain National Forest in Vermont.He was an avid canoeist and voyageur in the north. He was the founder of the West RiverWhitewater Assoc. that hosted the US Kayak Team trials and other international races in the 1980’s. He competed annually in the Adirondack 90 mile canoe race. He loved his farm and was happiest logging and tending to his animals.He is survived by his wife Virginia Reed Fisher and 3 children: Alice Fisher Fazekas and husband Stephen of Atlanta, GA, son Robert M. Fisher and wife Sarah of Wilmington, VT, Son James Arthur Reed Fisher of London, England.In addition he is survived by 4 grandchildren; Mackenzie Fisher, Lillian Fisher, Finnlay Fisher and Liesel Fazekas, a special niece Jacquelyn Carruthers and husband Gary, among other nieces, nephews and cousins.A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Old Red Mill in Wilmington, VT from 1-4pm Wednesday February 24th. In lieu of flowers, donations in celebration of his life can be made to the Central Asia Institute (Pennies for Peace) for the building of schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan- a cause that he was passionate about after reading Three Cups of Tea, by Greg Mortenson c/o Covey and Allen Funeral Home PO Box 215 Wilmington, VT 05363.
