    David L. Hamilton

David L. Hamilton, 68 of Jamaica, VT, passed away unexpectedly on Monday February 15, 2010 in Jamaica. David was born in Jamaica, VT on April 11, 1941, the son of Charles and Ruth (Jones) Hamilton. David married the former Janet Bell on David was a full time caretaker and handyman for Mrs. Walsh (author Pearl Buck) for more than 10 years. He worked as an excavator for local contractors at the same time he was caretaking, lawn mowing and snowplowing for his individual customers.He owned his own excavating business for over 20 years.David was a selectman for the Town of Jamaica for more than 20 years and was the acting Road Commissioner.He was a member of the Stratton Fire Department for many years and was Chairman of the VT Green Up in Jamaica for 15 years. He was the school bus driver for the high school for 2 years then served as the substitute bus driver for the Jamaica Elementary School for a number of years.David was a member of the Masonic Lodge MT. Lebanon #46 where he was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason.He was very active in supporting the Masonic Lodges Bingo and was Designated “Citizen of the Year.” David was also an avid hunter and was extremely proud when he got his 8 pointer this past season stating, “This one didn’t get away.”He is survived by his wife Janet of Jamaica, his son: James David Hamilton and his daughter, Darlene Hamilton both of Jamaica, VT, his brothers; Neil and his wife Arlene Hamilton of Minneapolis, MN and Alan and his wife Dean Hamilton of Newark, TX, his sisters; Judy and her husband John Batutis of Jamaica, VT, Helen Clark of Poultney, VT and Doris Winters of Berlin, VT, his sister-in-law; Marion Hamilton of S. Hadley, MA, and many special nieces and nephews and many, many dear friends. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Hamilton.A Memorial Service will take place on Friday February 19, 2010 at the South Londonderry Baptist Church at 11:00 am. The Masons will conduct a Masonic service as part of the memorial service.A reception will follow at the Masonic Lodge MT. Lebanon #46 in Jamaica. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions in David’s memory be made to the Scholarship fund of the Masonic Lodge Mt.
