Mary Jane Gardner 89, wife of Irving Gardner died unexpectedly Friday January 22 at her home on Knapp Drive. Mrs. Gardner was born in North Pownal on April 21, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Frankie (Rudd) Wilcox, she grew up in North Pownal where she attended the graded school, she continued her education graduating from Williamstown (MA) High School. Mrs. Gardner was first married to Harold Wilson who passed away in California in 1960, she later married Robert Brewer in 1963, Mr. Brewer pre-deceased her in 1989. She and Irving were married in Las Vegas in 1990 and have enjoyed each others company ever since. Mrs. Gardner was very active in the North Pownal Congregational Church and the Red Mountain Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting still life. She leaves her husband Irving of Bennington, step son Robert Brewer of Arizona, sister Elizabeth Wilcox of Bennington, nephew Paul Mason of North Pownal and niece Ruth Linger of North Pownal. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 26 at 10am at the North Pownal Congregational Church with Reverend Gary Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in park lawn Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
